This series is about my relationship to my Ukrainian heritage.

Inspired by folklore, traditions, and family tales, I've been painting the mythical figures that are my (and

perhaps all of our) ancestors.

These larger paintings depict famous folk figures of East Slavic culture. I’ve combined these figures with

traditional embroidery techniques and different fabrics, representing my family’s and my personal

relationship to the trade of cloth making.
